Smile, Dammit!

I’m forcing myself to be in a good mood today.

I have no real reason to be in a bad mood but I’ve been feeling a little “meh” the past couple days.

Things are generally good and I just need to concentrate on the things in the “Pro” column and ignore the “Con”

Pro:
Everyone I love is healthy
I have a good job that pays my bills
The revisions on my novel (while slow) are going well
I have dear and supportive friends who love me
There’s a guy I like who seems to like me back

But it’s sooooo easy to dwell on the bad stuff

But I’m not going to.

La La La!

Luckily, I’m one of those people who can improve her mood by forcing myself to smile. I don’t know the actual statistic, but something like 50% of people can actually elevate their mood by smiling, even when they don’t want to. Some sort of muscular placebo or something. I don’t know or care how it works, I just know that it does.

So I’m making a point of smiling today. I’m doing it right now. The people around me on the train probably think I’m a little nuts. Hehehe… They’re not wrong.

Anyway, I hope everyone finds a reason to smile today, even if you have to make it up!

:D

Most people CAN successfully be happy by forcing a smile. You can become more confident by faking confidence.

I agree with this completely. As for the "meh" maybe it's coming up on shark week?

I agree with ChicagoSane.

One day, after dealing with a psycho motorist on the road, I decided that when I got to work, I was not going to complain to anyone about it. (I usually would bitch and moan to anyone who'd listen.)

It's amazing how quickly I forgot about the incident on the road, since I wasn't dwelling on it with everyone who crossed my path ("you wouldn't believe my drive to work this morning!").

Another lesson learned.

This reminds me of a "Dog Whisperer" episode where a dog was totally anxious and scared to be out in public. All they had to do was put a small leash on the edge of his tail, to keep his tail up high. When a dog's tail is up, that means he is confident and alert. And the dog got confused, thought he was confident and alert, and forgot about being crazy and anxious while out in public.

My problem lately is the people AT work. I give myself a pep talk (ya, I'm wierd) before I get there and put into my mind the things I'm going to accomplish. A checklist so to speak. But there are two women who sit near me. One bitches ALL day, slams crap and generally gets rid of her bad mood by giving it to people. Ack! Then the other one is a mouse, with no personality nor brains. I get irritated that she can't find her way out of a box. Our computers are too slow to just put on Pandora and my earphones. I'm trying to come up with a way that I can ignore. I consistently tell the bitch to knock it off -- which she does for about 1/2 hour. [sigh] I want an office with walls.
