Human Kindness

So... I'm always amazed at people and how gracious they can be.

I'm even MORE amazed by how petty and ungracious they can be.

I got into an elevator the other day and it quickly became crowded. The last two people to enter were an elderly couple. We all had to budge up a bit for them.

"OW!" a woman across from me exclaimed.
"Oh!" said the little old man. "I'm so sorry! Did I step on your foot?"
"Yes," she snapped. "You did."

We were all clearly taken aback.

"I'm very sorry," repeated the little old man.

The woman didn't even look at him, let alone acknowledge his apology.

Betch.

All too often, when it comes to the milk of human kindness, people claim to be lactose intolerant.

What a biotch!

I tried to do a nice thing recently. I stopped at McDs for breakfast -- I just get an egg biscuit, which costs under $1.50. When I got to the window, I asked the guy, "Hey, how much is the order for the guy behind me?" I was thinking I'd do the "buy breakfast for the person in the car behind me" deal. THe kid looked at me and said something like, "Oh, he's getting a lot, his order is over $9." Me: "$9? I don't even have that much on me! Forget it -- I'll try another day when someone's just getting a sandwich and coffee." The kid laughed.

I think I should get partial credit for the attempt. ;)

Awwwwwwww, Angela -- I LOVE how you thought of that. Don't blame you, I wouldn't have either.

Love the Anonymous saying.
